ISO 9001:2000 for SME

SIYAKHULA CERTIFICATE – was authored and developed by Meera Hoosen to assist SME to systematically improve and attain certification to ISO 9001:2000.

Siyakhula means "we are growing" in Xhosa and that is exactly what this certification intends to do – growing SMEs to become active players in the South African economy. The Siyakhula Certificate, in combination with ISO 9001:2000 for small business, provides for a systematic approach to compliance with ISO 9001:2000, which is an innovative three-phase approach that allows the level of growth to increase over time.

Each one of the three phases takes six months to complete and follows an upward trend of continual improvement. The attainment of each phase is recognized by a certificate issued by the SABS following a successful assessment of that phase. At the end of the 3rd phase, the SME attains ISO 9001:2000 certification.

The Siyakhula Certification encourages the creation of a learning organization, customer orientation, the involvement of people, leadership, continual improvement and the development of a culture of quality.

ISO 14001:2004 is an international Environmental Management System model which is used by organizations to mange the effects of their business activities on the environment. This means what the organization does to:
