BRITISH RETAIL CONSORTIUM (BRC) GLOBAL STANDARDS
Under the terms of the UK Food Safety Act 1990, retailers like all sectors involved with the supply of food have an obligation to take all reasonable precautions and exercise due diligence in the avoidance of failure, whether in the development, manufacture, distribution, advertising or sale of food products to the consumer. Assessment of suppliers against the MRC Global Standards are used as a due diligence mechanism.
Training plays a critical role in the implementation and maintenance of the BRC Standards.

PDCA has its own fully equipped training facility in Plumstead, Cape Town. All courses are charged in South African Rand, so there is no need for foreign exchange.
Our tutor Meera Hoosen, who was responsible for establishing the BRC Certification Scheme for SABS, is extremely experienced and has a great understanding of the local food safety requirements, legislation and certification requirements to BRC standards.
All BRC course(s) and support material, test papers and quality control specifications are supplied by BRC and tutors are compelled to ensure they do not deviate from these; thereby maintaining consistency of course delivery. All course certificates issued are sent directly from the BRC in London, UK. Delegates who attend the 3rd party courses and pass the exam, and are representing a Certification Body who are accredited to carry out the evaluations against the BRC Standard, (within their scope of EN45011 or ISO guide 65) are able to issue certificates bearing the BRC Quality mark.
